DISCOVERY’S 2012 ALLIED HEALTH AND THERAPEUTIC BENEFIT

Discovery has redesigned the out-of-hospital allied health and therapeutic benefits on the Executive, Comprehensive and Priority Plans for 2012 in that they have grouped together all out of hospital allied health care professionals and set a limit as to the amount of funds they will pay out annually to members for services from these allied health professionals. This amount varies according to the family size and plan type. In hospital benefits on all plans and out of hospital benefits on the Saver, Core and Key Care plans are unaffected by the change. For more information on this click here .

An allied and therapeutic extender benefit plan also exists for some of the allied health professionals, unfortunately dieticians are not a part of this. Click here for more information on this.

Discovery’s rationale behind these changes is explained in this document, for FAQs on the benefit click here

ADSA has met with Discovery to discuss these changes. Please click here to read the joint letter from ADSA and Discovery detailing progress on this matter and contact details for the respective people at ADSA and Discovery whom you can send your queries to.
